Getting Ahead. Seems to me that economic health is one of the top 3 or 4 priorities in everyone’s life. Others might be spiritual, physical and family health. I think they all come together to make you an incredible human. If you have your physical health, it’s easy to slide on that for a while. Easy, but not smart. It’s the same for spiritual health. But family health can be tougher to see it excel and your wallet or bank account seems to be the easiest to lose control over.
In other posts I have and will sound off on the other 3 but for now I want to suggest ideas about what got us into trouble over the years financially and how you can stay on track. You are in charge of all your health and the sooner that you take complete responsibility for that, the quicker good things can happen, and they often pick up speed much faster once you cross certain barriers.
Money is not a measure of anything. It might be, but at this point in my life, about the only thing it might be a measure of is one’s financial savvy. But, fame, status, happiness, attractiveness, intelligence, likelihood to succeed, longevity and others should never be measured as to your identity. You will never have enough of it to make you better than someone down the street.
In that sense, money is a tool, not a measurement. We all want better lives, and money can go a long way in making life better. I keep track of my money, but not to prop me up but to improve the quality of life for those around me. Stop using money as a marker and you will set yourself up for much better returns.
The next one was tough for us, getting a handle on spending. I like buying stuff as much as anyone. I’ll share some of our ideas about that next time.
